Comunidad is all about building community, and most commonly includes festive cultural celebrations throughout the year.
Carnaval y Feria de Salud
In honor of Cesar Chavez, Delores Huerta and local farmworkers in our community, Corazón Healdsburg and Comité Pochtlán annually host the Putleco Carnival and Health Fair each Spring. The event will provide attendees with traditional Oaxacan food, live music, information about resources in the community such as summer camps, outdoor activities and health resources, along with entertainment for the whole family. This free event and is held at the Healdsburg Community Center.
Corazón and the City of Healdsburg co-host an annual Día de Los Muertos celebration in the town plaza and invite the community to gather together to honor the dead by living. The event includes music, culture, food, refreshments and kids activities. (Our 2019 event was rescheduled due to fire evacuation and location was moved to City Hall grounds.)
Designed to help expecting mothers prepare for parenthood while bringing together members of the community under the common theme of motherhood. Moms to Moms takes place at Alliance Medical Center in Healdsburg and provides a series of multi-week prenatal, birthing, lactation and peer-to-peer support classes for expecting mothers in their third trimester. At the completion of the program, Corazón host a group baby shower for moms who complete the program. These joyful showers take place five times throughout the year and deliver necessary items to moms in need.
