0-5 is fundamental to a child’s development.

Early Childhood Education Work Group

When it comes to children's cognitive development, ages 0-5 are foundational to school and life outcomes. But according to the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment done by Healdsburg elementary schools, 4/5 kids are not coming to school “ready to go”. This lag in academic readiness is due, in part, to the lack of seats and hours available in quality, licensed early-childhood education environments including preschools and daycares. Latinx families are disproportionately affected by this shortage and unable to get their children into the limited spots.

In an effort to reverse this trend, Corazón created the annual Preschool Fair in Healdsburg. Held at the Community Center with child-friendly activities, all families are invited to learn about their options for early childhood education– including opportunities for financial assistance. Corazón ensures that every table in the fair has a bilingual educator that can inform parents about their individual program.

All families in attendance receive a free backpack from United Way, with books from First 5 Sonoma County and are eligible to win other raffle prizes. Children's activities, bilingual storytime, and music classes are offered throughout the event.
