Adult Education

Corazón’s Adult Education classes increase English fluency and educational attainment for adults in Healdsburg by offering English as a Second Language (ESL) classes at night for working adults and during the day for parents while children are at school or participating in our childcare program for ages 0-4. Our High School Equivalency preparation class allows adults to study for their high school diploma in Spanish. Classes are taught by qualified Santa Rosa Junior College professors on-site at the Healdsburg Community Center. Currently, we have 108 adults participating in this semester’s adult education classes.

The Comité is a committee of active and engaged Healdsburg residents that meet monthly to discuss issues impacting Healdsburg's Latino community. The monthly meetings are convened by Corazón’s staff and held in Spanish to allow for non-native English speakers to participate. Representatives of the Comité are active leaders in the local community in diverse arenas such as churches, schools, apartment complexes and in their respective workplaces. Members share information they learn at the Comité back to  the community and also bring issues to the Comité from their different pockets of the community.

FirstGen College Counseling

FirstGen College Counseling helps prepare historically underserved Healdsburg high school students to become the first in their families to complete college through comprehensive one-on-one support of the entire college application process. FirstGen aims to strengthen the greater Healdsburg community and improve educational equity for all students by increasing the four-year college attendance rate for students from low-income backgrounds (all participants are Free and Reduced Lunch eligible). The students in the FirstGen program have self-identified as wanting to go to college, are taking honors and AP level courses and maintaining a college-track grade point average.
