U.S. Census begins online and over the phone in March of 2020.
Our September monthly Comité meeting was the official launch of the 2020 Census outreach project. Our workshop featured a presentation by Vicky Patino of the U.S. Census Bureau. Vicky shared information focused on the importance of the Census and we discussed paid opportunities for bilingual community members to work with Corazón to assist with the 2020 Census to ensure that all community members are counted.
Beginning in 2018, Corazón is one of nine non-profit organizations partnering on the Just Recovery Initiative, led by the Latino Community Foundation. Funding for the 2020 Census outreach project comes from the Latino Community Foundation, First 5 Sonoma County and United Way of the Wine Country, the State of California and the Community Foundation Sonoma County.
It is our sincere hope that messaging about the 2020 Census will reach all corners of our community, especially the Hard to Count communities which include Latinx residents, families with children ages 0-5, rural residents, seniors and those whose primary language is not English. The U.S. Census will be online and over the phone and begins in March 2020.
