CEO Ariel Kelley and her fellow award winners were recognized at the 4Cs (Community Child Care Council of Sonoma County) Champions for Children award ceremony on November 8, 2019 at the Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club. State Senator Mike McGuire presented the awards to leaders in the community who embody the values and principles of the 4Cs.
Ariel received the “Strong Families” Champion for Children award in recognition of her work establishing Corazón's Kinder to College program. Also recognized was Corazón partner, Dr. Mariana Garcia Martinez from the College Assistance Migrant Program, who won “Inspiring Education.” Dr. Martinez consults with Corazón on its equity in education initiatives and has been a speaker at our FirstGen family potluck.
While Corazón was awarded for the Kinder to College program, the ceremony focused primarily on our recovery efforts post-Kincade fire to help families get back on their feet.
The entire Corazón team was in attendance and is grateful to be recognized for our work with families in the community. We are honored to be included in the Champions for Children Winners listed below.
