We are delighted that our very own Programs Manager, Lizbeth Perez, is the chosen recipient of the 2019 Alexander Valley Film Society (AVFS) Jackie Hoffner Heart & Hope Award. This award was created when AVFS lost a founding member of its organization, Jackie Hoffner. Jackie was a force for strategic good, a person with a huge heart who valued and advocated kindness – on behalf of individuals, families, communities and, perhaps most of all, animals. She was also a creative force, a writer and storyteller who wholeheartedly believed that the arts are essential to fostering sustainable and connected societies, while stimulating hope and optimism for a better future.
In honor of Jackie’s generosity of spirit and the AVFS mission of bringing diverse films, artists, educational and cultural enrichment programming to our community, AVFS created the Jackie Hoffner Heart & Hope Award. The award is given annually to an individual or group whose work or contributions reflect four key attributes: Heart, Passion, Social or Community Impact, and Optimism.
We are deeply honored that AVFS chose Lizbeth for her efforts for this year’s award on behalf of the Latinx community, passionate advocacy, educational experience and love of film.
LizBeth will be celebrated on October 20th at the AVFF Closing Night Film at Raven Film Center, which begins at 5:30PM, followed by a reception and awards ceremony at Spoonbar in the H2 Hotel. More information on the event can be found at http://bit.ly/2AVpK9x.
