On February 25, 2020, Corazón celebrated the one-year anniversary of Groceries- to-Go. Launched last year in response to the 50,000 residents in Sonoma County facing food insecurity (15.2% of them children), the Groceries-to-Go program, a partnership with Redwood Empire Food Bank, has delivered over 100,000 lbs. of food and served approximately 1,000 families equating to 6,429 individuals fed.
To commemorate this huge effort we hosted a volunteer appreciation event for our volunteers who have donated over 225 hours to make this program possible. At the event, we also recognized our partners Farm to Pantry who glean local produce and deliver it to our food distribution, and the Farm to Fight Hunger who established a local farm specifically to feed the hungry in our community.
In addition to sending their own volunteers for food distribution, American Ag Credit presented Corazón with a $2,500 check during the celebration to help Corazón continue to focus on hunger and farmworkers into 2020.
With the generous support from all of our partners, the Groceries-to-Go program will continue food distribution on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month from 12-1pm at the Healdsburg Community Center at 1557 Healdsburg Avenue.
