Corazón today is announcing the closure of the Casa del Corazón Family Resource Center at the Healdsburg Community Center and unveiling plans to provide free resources and community assistance over the phone and online in response to the spread of COVID-19. All community members and clients will be able to contact Corazón staff members for regular resources or assistance through the organization’s text message platform, on Facebook, or via office phone, which will be forwarded to bilingual staff working remotely.
All Corazón staff members will be working from home beginning today March 13, and all in-person meetings will be moved to conference calls and video chat through March 29. These temporary measures will last for a minimum of two weeks, or until the community receives updated information from the federal Centers for Disease Prevention and Control about Coronavirus.
The health and safety of our community are foremost in making this decision, and we hope any inconvenience is outweighed by the potential to protect the health and safety of our community. We intend to reschedule the canceled workshops and classes to a later date but are exercising social distancing to slow the spread of the Coronavirus.
We will also be utilizing our online, text and phone communication channels to push out information from CDC and County Health officials as it becomes available and will be translating whatever necessary to make sure that all populations are informed no matter of fluency.
Next week Corazon already was planning limited classes and program offerings due to Spring Break at the Healdsburg Unified School District and Santa Rosa Junior College. Now, however, due to the emergency measures, Corazon is postponing the LISTOS emergency preparedness training, which was scheduled for this Saturday March 14 and Saturday, March 28, which had over 150 residents RSVP’d to attend.
Looking farther ahead, the “Earn it! Keep it! Save it!” tax site at Corazón will be canceled for Wednesday March 25, but appointment slots still will be available on April 1. Clients can call 211 to reschedule any tax services, and adult education classes might continue March 23, pending an announcement from SRJC and the City of Healdsburg as to their plans.
